As a MtF voice training in Los Angeles center, we often hear a lot of misconceptions when it comes to voice training.
MtF voice training in Los Angeles, in particular, has a lot of different speculations due to the lack of education regarding voice training.
TG Voice Therapy is here to debunk the following three misconceptions:
1.Voice Training Can Start Anytime
Voice training cannot be started at just anytime that an individual wishes to take training. Transitioning can be a very difficult time for anyone looking to be more like the gender they identify with. There are a lot of emotions at play. Your voice is deeply affected by how high or low your emotions are running. During this time, voice training may be difficult as you may not have control over your voice.
2. Voice Training Won’t Let You Sing
MtF voice training isn’t easy and requires a lot of training. A lot of individuals have the misconception that singing is bad for your voice while you are in the middle of training because it puts a strain on your vocal cords. However, this is false. Singing is actually very good for you while you are in the middle of your voice transition. For MtF voice training, in particular, you will be able to find the “feminine” side of your voice through singing. However, you should always consult with a therapist or singing coach for further information.
3. Feminization Surgery Will Make Your Voice Feminine
Feminization surgery will not automatically make your voice more feminine once you have recovered. However, during surgery, they just make it impossible for your voice to sound “low”. This doesn’t necessarily mean that your voice will sound “high”. Every individual is different. It is up to you to train your voice to sound high-pitched and feminine.
